The research project conducted by our lab's team, led by Seongjun Lee (Master’s Course, PI) and Subin Kim (Combined Master’s and Ph.D. Program, Co-I), was recognized as an excellent research project under the "2024 Small Research Grant Program" organized by the Gwangju Climate and Energy Agency.

The research team led the project with a focus on creatively solving challenges related to carbon neutrality and climate crisis adaptation in the community.
This program was carried out under four research topics: energy conversion, social conversion, infrastructure conversion, and resilience improvement. The research team conducted a study titled 「Machine Learning-based Prediction and Analysis of Urban Heat Island Trends in Gwangju Using Satellite Images」 under the theme of infrastructure conversion.
The research team analyzed the trends of urban heat islands in Gwangju using optical satellite imagery and advanced AI approaches. Their research investigated the effects of land cover changes on strengthening or mitigating urban heat islands in the region.
